CBS – Superior Donuts Promos
Collaborating with BPG Advertising, we created a campaign of four short promos for the launch of the CBS comedy show Superior Donuts. The sitcom is about Arthur Przybyszewski, a grumpy old widower who owns a struggling donut shop in a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood. He hires Franco, a young Chicago native, to help him with ideas to modernize the business and get new clients in the door.
The show is aimed at a very diverse audience and tackles social issues with story lines about racism, gun control, and hate crimes. We love how edgy and up-front they are with the jokes and content, especially for a prime-time show. Of course, as a broadcast design agency who focuses on inclusive design, we were very excited to partner with BPG and CBS to help them promote it.
The BPG team designed the key art for the entire integrated campaign. They turned to us to bring the art to life in a format that could be used on the air as bumpers or as stand-alone ads for social media. We then added on to the assets with fun things like 3D mugs and sprinkle particles.
Telling a compelling story in 5 seconds isn’t easy, but we believe new media shouldn’t conform to 30 & 15-second constraints. It’s all about context and creating bite-sized pieces of snackable
