Inclusive design can help you expand the size of your addressable market.

At BIEN, we practice inclusive design, which is a methodology that enables and draws on the full range of human diversity. We might be a good fit for you if your company:

  • values diversity, equity & inclusion
  • wants to expand the size of its addressable market
  • see the business as a vehicle for creating social change
  • needs to remain relevant in a changing market
  • refuses to “do business as usual”

BIEN is a motion graphics studio in Los Angeles that creates video content to connect brands with diverse audiences. Primarily, we focus on 2D and 3D animation, motion design, character animation, and live-action production. Our experience working with Fortune 500 brands, development agencies, and advertising agencies goes back over 15 years with our founders, Creative Director Hung Le and Executive Producer Ricardo Roberts.

Glow is the story of Jane, a young lady who lands her dream job at a large corporation. At first, she radiates energy and enthusiasm. However, she quickly learns that her colleagues are heavily burdened by menial tasks. Eventually, Jane’s enthusiasm succumbs to the repetitive tasks, and her glow fades.

    World Bank

Technology, climate change, and political turmoil are transforming the way people work around the globe. To adapt, The World Bank Group asked us to help convince governments to rethink outdated Social Protection policies. We’re proud to do work that can improve the lives of millions, especially the most vulnerable populations in the world.

There are so many motion design studios in Los Angeles
    and beyond. Why BIEN?

    Inclusive Design

We’re the only motion design studio that ensures all your content is inclusive and culturally relevant. Our team of seasoned creatives actually reflect modern, diverse audiences—your audiences. Whether you’re targeting an American or global audience, we get it right.

Make Magic with Modern Production Budgets

Budgets are smaller today than when we started making broadcast commercials. We get it, and we know how to stretch your dolla bills to maximize spend. Say goodbye to big, bloated partners who are expensive AF and never take your projects seriously.

    Do More

Spend less time managing agency/freelance vendors. You’ll have one dedicated producer who returns calls blazingly fast and keeps you informed on where projects are in the pipeline. That means you can spend more time focused on strategic work vs managing production.

    Zero Dropped Balls

Your project managers/producers can rest easy knowing we are reliable ball jugglers. Our 61 point motion design production process makes us different from those vendors who require constant hand-holding. We don’t miss deadlines and don’t miss important feedback notes. No surprises, no ball droppage.

"BIEN treated us like the only client in the world. Their responsiveness and organization was truly impressive. I look forward to working with them on the next project."

    Russell Hawkins, Producer, Weber Shandwick

"Well done. Looks and sounds amazing! Thank you for all the hard work and thanks for the quick turn around. We appreciate your collaborative spirit and raw talent."

    Jason Jones, Creative Director, 50,000ft

    IDEO

The international design and consulting firm IDEO reached out to us from their San Francisco office with a challenging project: help them create a marketing video for the launch of Shape, their new collaboration product. We used Ari as our main character to show how she used a proven framework to solicit ideas, gather feedback and foster close collaboration among a group of enterprise peers.

    BBVA

Working with our agency friends at 50,000ft in Chicago, we created a three-part video toolkit for BBVA Compass Bank’s new commercial payments product, Spend Net. We created an overview video to introduce the Spend Net brand to prospective customers and establish the bundled value proposition. The continued forward and upward movement hints at the approachability of the products.

    Motion Design Production Process

    motion design studio production process

    1) Empathize // Discovery

Even as a motion design studio, we don’t start with design. Instead, considerable time is spent understanding our client’s brand and audience, how the project will be used and what the overarching goals are. We ask strategic questions, listen intently and gather qualitative and quantitive data. The discovery phase uncovers insights that can be used to define a messaging and positioning strategy.

    2) Define // Pre-production

The insights and knowledge we gain in phase one are used to define the problem in the clearest way possible. The deliverable for this step is the creative brief. It defines our strategy and how we’ll reach the largest number of people in an authentic and fresh way.

    3) Ideate // Inclusive Design + Creative Development

Every decision we make in this phase ensures our creative approach reflects a very broad range of humanity and uses inclusive design best practices. Our diverse team of motion graphics designers and creatives will brainstorm concepts, write scripts, create styleframes and storyboards, cast voice talent, and explore music.

    4) Implement // Production

Once the storyboards are approved, we move into execution. This means animation, voice-over recording, sound design, VFX, editorial, and custom music scoring. As part of our three-step review process, we’ll present a first draft, fine draft, and final deliverable.

    5) Feedback // Results-based Improvements

The final phase involves looking at the results. Did the project meet the goals defined in the creative brief? Did the audience watch, share and engage with the content? As a motion design company, did we acheive what the client wanted? To ensure we’re hitting the mark consistently, we conduct client surveys and implement feedback into future projects. Continuous improvement is our obsession.

BIEN is a motion graphics studio in Los Angeles but we work with clients in New York, LA, San Fransisco, Chicago, DC, Rome, London, Geneva, and across the globe. We use a variety of technology (screen-sharing, Google Docs, Slack, and video conferencing systems) to collaborate, stay in touch, and get the job done. Working with us is pretty much the same as working with a local vendor. Don’t sweat the time zone difference—we do what it takes to make the work happen.

Our work has been featured in Motionographer, Little Black Book Online and The Drum.

We believe in good ideas and good design. We also set out to do good in the world every day. So, we chose to call our company something universal — BIEN.

How can we help tell your story?
